January 29, 2008 ---------------- Jason Phillips Vision Lab UNC-Chapel Hill Mimulus guttatus intron flanking primers: From this directory you will be able to navigate to predicted intron flanking primers based on Mimulus guttatus unigenes and Arabidopsis thaliana putative intron/exon positional data. These primers have been used for creating STS markers which aid the biologist in creating a genetic map of the Mimulus guttatus genome. Over the course of this project we have used a couple different naming schemes for the unigenes (or contigs) in these tab delimited excel friendly files. The database assigns each contig a unique numeric id. Since each build uses the same ESTs as the previous in addition to the latest ones and lots of contigs essentially don't change we introduced a naming convention which is not seen in these files until build 6. You'll notice that the contigs are referred to by a Contig_id for builds less than 6. Starting with build 6 we use the MgUxx id which has a little more intuitive meaning built into it (M = Mimulus, g = guttatus, U = unigene, xx = some numeric id). If you are specifically working with the MgU names then I have provided a cross reference file in this directory called Mimulus_guttatus_name_xref.txt. This file contains the Contig_id and Contig_name lookup if you need to correlate these id's found in the primer files with the actual name.
